"Moving on up and moving on out, time to break free..."
This February I am freeing myself from limitations - I'm diving in, head first. Life is too precious to faff about time wasting pondering the 'what if' s and 'I just need to get myself together first' s.
*Splash*
The environment around us is vital to our ability to function at our best, I mean this both internally and externally. And my environment was due a shift - a realisation of how abundant life could be.
Mercury in retrograde provided me with a day long window to see clearly the steps I needed to take to move my life in the direction I want it to go.
A search on Gumtree led me to my new venture: A studio space.
And what a space! A room with a BIG desk space, a sea view (if I poke my head out of the window or sit on the balcony) and a solid group of professionals working around me.
Working from home has been amazing for many reasons; the unburdened time and the freedom from extra rent have been intrinsic to helping me develop my art. However, I now need to transition myself away from my comfort and pyjama-wearing zone and get serious. Serious and committed. As I wrote previously, life is precious and short.
I am illustrating a children's book for a client as well as developing my business and illustrating new ranges for print in the summer. It is a wonderful place to be at - working hard to achieve it.
A life's purpose cannot be left to rot - it doesn't like it. It goes against the grain and eventually you have to do something to enable it. Invest in it. Invest your energy, your resources, your money, your everything. Much like the potato you forgot about, the one that started taking over the cupboard with its wild and spindly roots - wanting nothing more than a chance to grow. Purpose wants the same. Take it out, hold it and inspect it, establish what it needs - and then give it soil, water and sunlight - enable it to grow.
Did I really just compare purpose to a potato?
So, the studio: It is Just a 5 minute cycle ride away and situated RIGHT opposite the sea pool and RIGHT next door to the community hall where there are four yoga classes a week and a life drawing class - it gives me ridiculous levels of bliss-like tingles at the very thought of it. Working from a space that nurtures my creativity will in no doubt be of benefit.
Good. Very good.
